Monks in the Media and a Podcast

Abbot Nicholas formal

Here are a few things we thought you’d enjoy:

First, Abbot Nicholas of Holy Resurrection Monastery has recorded five episodes on EWTN’s Women of Grace show, this is the description from the show:

In his apostolic letter, Light of the East, St. John Paul II exhorts us to look to the Eastern Church of our Catholic tradition to find there the reference point for the baptized.

United as one body, both the Eastern Catholic Church and the Western have much to impart to the other. But, perhaps it is in the great tradition and history of the Eastern Church that all of Christendom can find a wellspring for a deep, intimate encounter with God.

Here to give us greater insight into the Eastern Church and its rich heritage is Abbot Nicholas Zachariadis, founder of Holy Resurrection Monastery in St. Nazianz, Wisconsin, in the Diocese of Green Bay.

You can view the shows online here.

Second, the monks of Holy Transfiguration Skete (a Ukrainian Catholic monastery in Michigan) have had a documentary made about them which you can rent or purchase to stream online. We haven’t had a chance to see it yet but have heard from friends that it is well worth watching. You can view the trailer and find rental/purchase information here.

Last but not least, one of our fellow monastic associates has a daily podcast called, One Take on the Typikon.

“One Take on the Typikon is a daily quick podcast on the Byzantine liturgical calendar and guide to prayer (the Typikon). I have one take to give my take.” You can check that out  here and here.

That’s all for now. Later this week I hope to share some photos I took around the monastery grounds last Sunday; early Spring in St. Nazianz is very beautiful. Tomorrow my new Lessons From A Monastery article will be out at Catholic Exchange. It’s about learning to love the Theotokos. I grew up protestant so it took some time 😉

God bless,

Jessica
