Preparing for Christmas with a new Jesse Tree Book

Jesse Tree

Today, I ordered this wonderful looking book for our family to use for the upcoming Phillips Fast (a.k.a. Advent). I admit, I have been dreading the fact that the fast is beginning soon (November 15th). I have been avoiding thinking about it; whenever one of the kids brings it up I tell them, “Shush, no need to talk about it yet!” But I’d better start thinking about it so I am prepared. Thankfully, this new book has just been published and it has gotten me excited that Christmas preparation will be upon us soon. I am looking forward to having the book available which has scripture readings, a lesson, and a craft to make for each forty days. I am not at all one of those crafty moms– like at all– but my kids really enjoy arts and crafts so I am going to sacrifice (yes, it will be a sacrifice to me!) and even make the crafts with the kids. It’s gonna be great! To add to the fun, the author has created a Facebook page for users of the book so we can share pictures and chat about what we are up to. I am really looking forward to this as well. Here is the information from the author herself with the link to purchase. Make sure you join the Facebook page too– we will see you there!

From the author, Lynn Drozdik Wardach:
The Jesse Tree:
A Family Guide through the Season of Advent and Philipovka

It is a daily scripture reading, lesson and craft instructions for all 40 days of Philip’s Fast! It’s written from my Byzantine Catholic perspective, but can be used by those of the Latin rite as well.

I have started a Facebook page as a discussion forum for families who are using the text. We can discuss ideas, ask questions, or share photos of our accomplishments! It’s a public page, so just ask to join! This is going to be so much fun!!!
