Serafina’s Baptism, Chrismation, and First Communion

After Baptism

Serafina sleeping peacefully after her baptism, chrismation, and first communion. Father Maximos baptized and chrismated her and Sera’s godfather Alex came out from California for the day. Our daughter Scarlett stood in for her godmother Janice.

Recently our new baby Serafina was baptized. The day was perfect and filled with such joy, as all baptism days are. Little Sera was also chrismated (confirmed) and received the Eucharist. For those not aware, the Eastern Catholic church gives all three sacraments of initiation at once. I wrote an article explaining the Eastern practice which you can read here.

In this post I only want to share the pictures of the day with some explanations of what was going on in these photos.

You can click on the pictures for an up close view and to read the captions better. There are two photo galleries to view.

These are additional photos of our friends and family.

We had a wonderful week visiting with our dear friend Alex, he came out from California to be Sera’s godfather. He and his wife Janice are godparents to seven of our children, for which they deserve a special medal or something! We also enjoyed visiting with the Naasko family who came down from Michigan, we only wish they could have visited longer. The regular extended community members were also present and we are grateful for everyone who was a part of this special day. Our thanks goes especially to Father Maximos, Abbot Nicholas, and all of the monks.

  1. What a wonderful blessing…for Serafina, for your family, & for the entire Church! God bless this precious little soul & her family! Congratulations!
